Moynaq was once a fishing port on the Aral Sea. Today the water is more than 100 km away, and rusting ships lie on the sand of the old sea bed: one of the most striking sights in Central Asia. The drive from Nukus is about 200 km and takes around 3 hours.

In Moynaq you can walk among the ships below the war memorial and see the small museum of the town's fishing past. Going on to the shore of the Aral Sea itself needs a 4×4 and a night in a yurt camp: ask us for that trip.
