The yurt camp below the desert fortress of Ayaz Kala is the place to see the sunset and the stars over the Kyzylkum. The drive from Khiva takes about 1.5 hours, crossing the Amu Darya into Karakalpakstan. The camp welcomes guests in the warmer months; check it is open on your dates before you book.
